Santa Clara Meditation Positive Life Changes – Angry Mom Becomes Happy Mom And It’s Contagious

Hwaik Cho / Office worker

My mother and I used to play a game of “hide-and-seek” from the time I was in middle school until my freshman year in high school. Regardless of whether or not I wanted to study, my mother had enrolled me in English and math tutoring. I quickly rebelled, and I would never stay in my tutoring program for more than a month. My mom expected and pressured me to do what she had not achieved in her life. She was especially strict and scary when it came to my studies…

Mom is Going to Meditate? I’m free

My mom was always busy with work. When I saw her, which was usually once a day, she’d ask me, “How’s your studying going?” “Did you go to the academy?” These were the only things she ever said to me. I hated that side of my mother. As time went on, just seeing her face would upset me.

One day when I was in high school, my mom suddenly decided to go to a week-long meditation retreat. Oh yeah! I felt free, as if I could breathe again. I was really happy she was gone.

After that week, my mother returned home. Our family could see subtle changes in my mom but all of us were still a bit doubtful. Is it real? But as the days passed, and even after a month, it was clear that my mother had really changed.

Mom is Not Angry, She’s Amazing!

It was amazing that my mother was no longer angry. I began to feel her sincerity, both in her words and in her eyes. She became a mother who understood me. Before, she only asked for results, like, “Have you been to the academy?” But now she worried about me sincerely, “Are you sick?” “Is there anything you want to eat?”

I was especially surprised when my mom began to joke with my father. My father likes to joke a lot, but his type of humor would often hurt other people’s feelings. I thought she might feel bad. The whole family was touched as we watched our mother accept his jokes with a smile. The relationship between my mother and father wasn’t bad, but I couldn’t say that there was much affection between them.

In any situation she would now say, “I’m sorry” and “I’ll do it.” Thanks to my mother’s positivity and warmth my family became reconciled. I became curious as to how this meditation had changed my mother’s attitude so much. I started to feel a bit of hope. Maybe if I do this meditation, I will be able to escape from what I am too.

I Became Friends With My Mom and I’m Happier

I’ve always been very indecisive. Whenever I tried to learn something, I was never persistent. When someone asked me what I was good at, I would respond superficially saying that I was doing different things, but I wasn’t really doing anything.

Thanks to my mother, I started this meditation. When I was meditating, I decided that I had to do this meditation until the end. It was because I was tired of saying that I wanted to change and never having any real results. By meditating, I now see how meaningless it is to blame others and the world. I feel like the time I had to really look back at myself was precious.

Before, I was struggling because I had failed a certification exam. This meditation was the only way I could overcome myself. Fortunately, with better concentration, this year I was able to pass the certification exam.

Nowadays, I often brag about my mom to my friends. My mom is now my dearest friend. These days she says, “If you have something you want to do, I hope you do it without regret.” The love of a mother who is always watching over us is a happy virus which brightens our family and our surroundings.
