Master Woo Myung Question and Answer – What is Chun-bu-kyung? When and by whom was it written?

The essence of the book, Chun-bu-kyung, is the idea that heaven, earth, and man will become one. In Korea, the philosophy of this idea passed down for many generations and it was eventually recorded in written form in the Bae-dal-guk and Dan-gun dynasties. The Dan-gun dynasty was able to last for such a long time because it was governed by this ideology, which venerated heaven with heaven, earth, and man united as one.

However, it is now a world where man will become the master. The work of man will be the work of heaven, and the work of heaven will be the work of man. It is a world where the work of man will be fulfilled in heaven. The difference between the Dan-gun philosophy and this new age is that the people of the Dan-gun era and philosophy tried to achieve their will in heaven, whereas now everything will be fulfilled here on earth. The Dangun philosophy was right for the people of that time, but the current philosophy – the age of man – is one that is appropriate for the present because it is in accordance with nature’s flow.

The age of man is an era when man is of the highest; when all things are fulfilled according to man’s will; and man becomes the center of heaven, earth, and man. The person who first received Chun-bu-kyung lived in Korea long before the Dangun era, but it was in the Dan-gun era that it was organized and applied to governance. Since the Dan-gun era, Koreans have guarded and held onto this philosophy throughout the ages and the passing of each dynasty.
