Master Woo Myung Teaching – Does One Live Eternally with the Body or with the Mind?
Some sects of Christianity assert that a person who is the omnipotent and omniscient God will live for eternity in the world with his human body. They also argue that the Bible makes the same claim.
But nothing material in the world lasts forever. Even now, there are stars in the sky that are disappearing and new ones being created. Stars, which have the longest lifespan of any creation in the Universe, live for approximately five to fourteen billion years. The Earth is a star, as are the moon and sun. Therefore, the Earth will also someday disappear.
Has anyone seen a person live forever? Has anyone seen an animal live forever? The fact that nature and all creations change and disappear is Truth.
The way for the forms of all creations born in the world to live forever is to be resurrected as the body and mind of the Universe that is Truth. Only then can their Souls and Spirits live forever in the land of the Universe’s true existence. The fact that the body disappears is Truth, and only the Universe’s body and mind that has become Truth can live eternally.
Only he who is resurrected as the Soul and Spirit of the Creator – the metaphysical real substance – can live forever. Only he, who has become one with Truth in the land of Truth that is the non-material real existence, is Truth and is thus able to live forever.
Only the Soul and Spirit of Truth can live eternally.
