Santa Clara Meditation Benefit – How does one overcome depression and anxiety?
I am grateful to have the opportunity to share an answer to this question. I was one who was deeply depressed before. so I could understand how much depression makes a person feel lethargic, and how much effort it takes to get out of it. and I’ll also share my story shortly about how I got free from depression and anxiety.
Depression is can be recovered and fixed when one clears and discards his mind that cause of depression that accumulated inside one’s mind, it will reduce gradually and will disappear.
First of all, why do we get depression?
One of the major causes of depression is the large gap between my current state and the ideal state I want. In other words, it’s because we have a great deal of greed, high ideals.
For example, when I study, I set a goal of 5chapters before even finishing the first chapter. I repeated every day blaming myself, and regret that I couldn’t do it. Rather than being thankful and satisfied for what I did, the sense of failure and resentment for not being able to do what I’ve planned always bothered me. Therefore, The efficiency has gone down. I felt lethargic. Not only studying but also about having relationships, love relationships, having money, etc. The gap was always big and I wasn’t satisfied with the result all the time. This situation has been repeated, and eventually, depression has developed.
So I’ve tried to find a way to escape and deal with depression and overthinking. I read books, looked up videos, and got advice from people. There were many tips people recommend: moving a lot without thinking, meeting and talking with many people, thinking positively, etc. That’s good advice. but I couldn’t help myself to change my mind easily, and depression didn’t get much better. Negative thoughts kept holding me back that I couldn’t control.
One day, I started meditation. It was a turning point in my life. Through meditation, I could understand the reason why I was depressed for a long time, and I was able to get out of depression.
What I did through meditation was to look back on my mind and I throw away that mind.
After I looked back on myself through meditation, I could naturally understand why I was depressed. Before I didn’t know where those minds come from and how to deal with it. through reflecting, I realized that I always had a lot of greed, expectations, and high goals in my mind like a bucket full of water.
And I started to empty and let go of my mind about my greed, expectations, and high goals one by one. and as much as I discard, I felt more comfortable and lighter. When I discard those minds, I was able to go through things naturally without obsessing or dwelling on the results. So efficiency goes up naturally. And the best thing is overthinking that bothered me all the time disappeared. It’s really free. Now I feel grateful about my conditions instead of expressing my dissatisfaction. and I found that I have an true mind within that we already have.
It could be no ease for us to be free from depression because we have a lot of negative minds that cause depression and anxiety.
When you clear inside of your mind, your mind changes naturally. and your life will be changed.
